WI - Village Park All-Children’s Play Area

Tyler: This is our first fully accessible play area.

Tyler voiceover: The design with the ramping, with the access on almost all of the features its huge. Because then people can come here.

[video: bird’s eye view of the entire play area. There is green safety surfacing with a blue river like design winding under and around the play structures and activities.

Tyler voiceover: Any Abilities, all ages are on here from kids up to grandparents and everybody kind of being here with them.

[video: camera pans down to the tops of two of the main structures enclosed towers connected by a cargo net crawl tunnel. A boy and his grandfather walk off the main structure from a double wide ramp to a sidewalk.]

Tyler: This play area has really transformed.

Tyler voiceover: Certainly, the park space but also what’s happening in our downtown.

[video: a boy swings from an arched pipe on a hillside. Scene switches to a group of children playing at a small playhouse. Scene switches to a full elevated view of the play area and the surrounding parking lot with a large building in the background.]

Tyler: Any given day there’s 50 to 100 or more people on the play area.

Tyler voiceover: Been a good thing for neighboring businesses, the coffee shops the restaurants. Everything close by seeing more traffic. And it’s just been a remarkable space and a transformation for our Village Park.

[video: camera pans at an elevated view rotating around the play area showing all the children playing at the different activities. The camera pans up while children climb up a cargo net chimney. Camera switches to a view from the playground decking as a girl climbs up through the cargo net chimney. Scene switches to an elevated view of the play area filled with playing children. Scene switches to the view of the bottom of a tube slide. A boy emerges from the shadows riding down to the bottom of the slide. Scene switches to a boy and girl as they stand and speak to the camera about the playground.]

Girl: I’m six and my favorite thing is doing the monkey bars here. Because I like monkey bars. And I like the slides too. Because you can go fast on them.

[video: and boy slides down a tall double laned slide. An older boy quickly rides down the other lane of the slide. Camera switches back to the two children as the young boy speaks to the camera.]

Boy: My favorite thing is to play on the swings. Because they’re fast.

[video: a woman pushes two children in a dual seated swing. Scene switches to a boy as he spins the wheel of a rainbow color wheel panel. The camera switches to the back side of the panel as the hypnotic black and white spiral spins. The camera pulls back to a full view of the large play structure while the hypnotic panel continues to spin. Scene switches to a girl as she climbs on vertical ropes with ball knots for foot and hand holds. She balances on one of the ball knots trying to transfer from one rope to the next. Scene switches to a young boy as he is pushed in a toddler swing. Scene switches to a view of the outside perforated paneling and large marble wall of the large play structure. Camera switches to a view inside the play structure as a girl runs her fingers down the marble play panel wall. A boy looks through a periscope at the top of one of the playground towers. View through the grate of one of the playgrounds towers, a girl slides down a tall spiral slide. Scene fades out and back into the camera falling a boy as he climbs through the elevated cargo net crawl tunnel from one tower to the next. Scene fades out and back into an elevated circling panning view around the playground towers. Two children can be seeing walking through the elevated cargo net tunnel between the two towers. The screen fades to white. A black vertical line appears in the center of the screen. The Gerber Leisure Products logo slides out to the right of the line. Then the Landscape Structures logo slides out to the left of the line. Text fades in below both logos reading: For a better tomorrow we play today. Screen fades to black and video ends.]
