Legacy of Play Award

Jim Roberts Honored by Landscape Structures for Building Playgrounds

March 19, 2013 —Landscape Structures Inc., a Delano, Minn.-based commercial playground equipment manufacturer, honored Jim Roberts of Napa, Calif., with the Steve and Barb King Legacy of Play Award during the company’s annual meeting in Minnesota.

Roberts was recognized for building nearly 60 playgrounds with the Kiwanis Club of Napa, and bringing play to children throughout Northern California.

Roberts is a past president and past lieutenant governor of the Kiwanis Club of Napa, and has been a member of the Club since 1956. The Kiwanis Club of Napa installed their first playground in 2000. Since then, Roberts and his fellow Kiwanians have kept themselves busy by installing at least four playgrounds each year. While playgrounds are a main concentration for the Club, they perform a variety of other service projects including Special Olympics, Marathon Readers program, Salvation Army Bell Ringing and much more.

“Many organization and individuals share the same mission as Landscape Structures, which is to enhance children’s lives,” said Steve King, cofounder and chairman of Landscape Structures. “Jim is passionate about helping children. And it shows in the many projects he’s completed with the Kiwanis Club. As I got to know Jim, it became apparent what an outstanding individual he is. Jim is doing things in Napa that you can only imagine.”
