Landscape Structures’ We-saw™ Welcomes all Abilities, Generations

Feb. 13, 2013 — Expanding on its line of inclusive play products, Landscape Structures Inc., a Delano, Minn.-based commercial playground equipment manufacturer, has introduced the We-saw™, a seesaw that was specifically designed to accommodate kids and entire families of all abilities.

With its center platform and molded bucket seats at transfer height, this multi-person seesaw is accessible, promotes social inclusion, and is great for facilities focusing on multi-generational solutions. Nearly 14 percent of children have one or more special needs ranging from autism to cerebral palsy. It has long been recognized that children with differing abilities often have difficulty playing and socializing, and more attention must be devoted to addressing this issue on the playground. Additionally, there is an increased number of caregivers who are injured military service members and part of an aging population whose needs are important to consider so that entire families can come to the playground for fun and recreation.

The We-saw provides a truly inclusive play experience, encourages collaborative play, and teaches kids about balance. It accommodates multiple users, and the We-saw's walk-in seating allows for easy access and transfer for those with mobility devices. Kids experience a gentle rocking motion on the We-saw, and in-ground bumpers help prevent the seats from making contact with the ground, which not only extends the life of the product but also protects the safety surfacing.
