Design Day at Blake Elementary School, Wayzata, Minn.
While committee members were planning for a new
playground at Blake-Highcroft Elementary School in Wayzata, Minn., they were able to get the students involved by conducting a
Design Day. Eager children in grades K-4 congregated one afternoon to help develop their dream playground.
Students divided into small groups, looked through catalogs and brochures, and started sketching out their ideas for the new playground on paper. The results? Blake Elementary students wanted twirly and straight slides, climbing walls, monkey bars, tunnels to climb through, spinning components, a tire swing and much more!
Committee members and Landscape Structures took all of the ideas from the Design Day and incorporated as many as possible into their new playground. Check out the final design here!
