Barb King's Legacy

Barb King, cofounder of Landscape Structures, was committed to children and passionate about showing them how to lead healthier lives and to appreciate nature. In this spirit, Barb created the Sajai® Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching children the value of living healthier lives by encouraging them to experience the outdoors, be active and make smart nutrition choices.

The Säjai Foundation works with communities to combat childhood obesity while promoting outdoor activities. The Wise Kids® and Wise Kids Two programs focus on the Energy Balance concept - Calories IN = Calories OUT.  The Wise Kids Outdoors program encourages children to explore the outdoors and understand the ways in which nature and the earth live in balance, just like humans.

Establishing the Säjai Foundation was one of Barb's greatest achievements. In May 2013, Barb's legacy gained more nationwide reach when the Säjai Foundation merged with Camp Fire. Camp Fire serves over 250,000 youth and families in communities across the country.
