In December 2008, Landscape Structures and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) fielded the first-ever study on environmental stewardship attitudes and initiatives of 445 of our nation's parks and recreation agencies. Our goal was to determine how agencies perceive their stewardship roles, initiate environmental programs and plan for a more sustainable future. By sharing the findings of this study, we hope to open a sustainability dialogue among all agencies, encouraging the exchange of information, the sharing of best practices, and an increase in the effectiveness of sustainability programs.
