2011 ASLA Annual Meeting & Expo, San Diego, Calif.
More than 6,000 landscape architecture professionals, exhibitors and presenters attended the ASLA Annual Meeting and Expo in San Diego, Calif., held Oct. 31-Nov. 2. Landscape Structures was the sponsor of the opening session on Monday morning, featuring Charles Montgomery, an award-winning journalist and urban experimentalist. He spoke about the striking relationship between the design of our minds and the design of our cities, a concept he lays out in his forthcoming book, Happy City. His message is as surprising as it is hopeful: that the green city, the low-carbon city and the happy city are the same place.
The booth design, which featured a custom concrete climbing wall and "flowy" bench attracted many landscape architects. The booth space was right at the front of the exhibit hall, and a floor to ceiling lime green logo banner along with a floor to ceiling white swirl banner could be seen from all angles of the tradeshow. The booth was certainly eye catching to attendees--so much so that the landscape architects honored Landscape Structures with an award for Most Visually Appealing Exhibit!
On Monday night, Landscape Structures sponsored the ASLA/Landscape Structures Gala on Halloween. The event was held at the San Diego Natural History Museum , which provided a beautiful backdrop for the masquerade ball. With old horror movies projected on the wall, landscape architects danced the night away in costumes which ranged from Snow White to the Beatles as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
2011 NRPA Congress & Exposition, Atlanta, Ga.
Parks and recreation professionals, exhibitors and presenters from around the country attended the NRPA Annual Congress and Exposition in Atlanta, Ga., held Nov. 1-3. As park and recreation professionals filtered out of the Opening General Session, which featured Tony Hawk, they were greeted by walking A-T-L letters encouraging them to visit Landscape Structures' booth.
About an hour into the exhibit hall opening, Landscape Structures held a press conference in their booth space to unveil the centerpiece of the booth design--the AtL playground! Along with the unveiling of the playground, visitors to the booth heard from Jeff Santos, the designer who created the concept for the AtL playground. The playground unveiling brought many park and recreation professionals as well as local and trade media into the booth, and the unique concept of playground personalization kept them there. In addition to the AtL playground, wall graphics showcased the other type of playground personalization that Landscape Structures can do.
On Wednesday night, Landscape Strucutres hosted a reception for customers at the Atlanta Children's Museum . Customers were able to take in the exhibits of the museum, network with other professionals and get their photo taken with the A-T-L letters. To close out the week's events, Landscape Structures sponsored the 5K fun run/walk on the last morning of NRPA.
