    Gravesend Park was most likely named after Gravesend, the first English settlement in New York. However, the English town was annexed by the City of Brooklyn in 1894. This space was originally used for a school, but has been a part of the parks department since 1917. Gravesend Park offers a unique playground design to the community, which was designed by Landscape Architect, Thomas Cirillo.
